Start by choosing one of the Force Sensitive Background Edges. Each type has the following entries:
FORCE SKILL: Each type of power has a particular Force skill listed in its description. Take this skill and buy it just like any other on the skill list. The attribute to which the skill is linked is listed in parentheses beside the skill itself.
STARTING POWERS: The number of Force powers a hero starts with at character creation. Additional abilities may be learned with the New Powers Edge. The player and Game Master can decide if there’s a narrative reason for this or it’s simply an evolution of her abilities.
POWER POINTS: The number of Power Points the character starts with when she chooses a Force Sensitive Background. A hero increases her Power Points by taking the Power Points Edge.
At any time a character may call upon the Darkside. Doing so functions as if they have spent a Benny even if they have none to spend. They may even do this to re-roll a Critical Failure. The character gains a Darkside Point. These points must be noted on their character sheet. They carry over from one session to the next.
If a character performs a cruel action, or abuses a Force power (such as causing extreme harm), they gain a Darkside Point.
For each Darkside Point a character has, they take a -1 penalry to Force Use rolls when using Force Powers with the Light Trapping.
If the player ever has more Darkside Points then their original starting Bennies. They are considered “Fallen to the Darkside” and receive both the Ruthless (Minor) and the Bad Luck (Major) Hindrances. If they already have Ruthless, increase it to Major. If they already have Bad Luck, they reduce their bennies by an additional 1.
If a character ever has double their original starting bennies the character has “Embraced the Darkside” and becomes an NPC.
At the start of any session a Player can choose to give up all of their starting Bennies to remove one Darkside Point from their total.
Whenever a character with Force Sensitive rolls a Critical Failure on a Force Use roll they may choose to call on the Darkside as above and re-roll the Critical Failure. Unlike other characters who only receive a single Darkside Point when they do this, a Force User receives 2 Darkside Points if they call upon the Dakside in this way.
